A Cozy Retreat Winter Collection 2019
/My house went from orange and gold to red and green last weekend. My sweet MIL picked out this fantastic present for us from the Backdoor Garden here in town- a pretty set of old skis and this cute large decorative ski lift- an homage to our beloved mountains of Colorado. My WONDERFUL husband set about helping me figure out how to jimmy-rig the lift to hang from the gutters on the front porch. I wrapped it with lights, a smaller version of what’s on our house. I see it with the beautiful holiday pots that Rickie from Backdoor Garden helped me make, AND FINALLY, I love our warm, cozy, festive home for the holiday season.
In designing this winter’s lighting collection, it set me out getting inspiration for those festive home photos. The pictures I love most have big chunky black fixtures. The black of the lanterns next to the front door stands out and invites you to kick the snow off your boots and come in.
I love the snowflake design of this mission style chandelier for the front entry. It’s such a pretty and unique touch to any foyer. It’s enough to grab you and say “I love that”, but not overly ornate or drab.
The remaining pieces are subtle and nod to the design of our early American life- lanterns, iron, and simplicity.
Putting this together makes me dream of designing homes worthy of my favorite cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies!
